York Dance presents - the world premiere of Americana
An evening of great entertainment: Four dance works capture the history, culture and icons that are Americana.
Artistic Director Yolande Yorke-Edgell takes us on a journey across America through the eyes of beat generation writer Jack Kerouac. City Limitless scratches under the skin of what it was to live at the heart of the beat scene.
A brand new work from dance maverick Wendy Houstoun, plus Meta 4 – another UK premiere from iconic US choreographer Bella Lewitzky makes an entire evening of dance created by three female choreographers.
Yorke-Edgell also contributes a previous work Post Etiquette to complete the programme. Featuring some of the UK’s leading contemporary dancers, including Greig Cooke (Mark Bruce Company) Pari Naderi (Siobhan Davies Dance, Richard Alston Company) and Caroline Hotchkiss (Mark Bruce Company) this promises to be a stand out event for 2010.
Tonight’s Performance features the Somerset Youth Dance Company, who are taking part in Yorke Dance Project’s Youth Leaders Programme, supported by Take Art.
Yorke Dance Project are supported by Causeway Technologies, Arts Council England and are an Associate Company of Wiltshire Dancing. For more information visit
