Saturday 15 August - 7pm

Kate Lissauer and Jenny Read present a short concert packed with the best of traditional and original Appalachian music and percussive dance.

Multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter, Kate brings old-time country music to vivid life with her intimate and heartfelt interpretations of traditional songs and tunes, and her powerful original material. Her rapport with her audience wraps everyone up in her personal good humour and engaging stories.

In addition to her solo performances, Kate leads the country’s very popular Buffalo Gals string band, and performs musical accompaniment to silent films through her company Sonic Silents.

Jenny Read performs foot and body percussion and vocals. Jenny is a master percussionist whose freestyle interpretations lift the music to a magical level, and delight the eye as well as the ear. She has worked as choreographer and performer with Firestone and Appakella percussive dance teams, as well as Kate’s Buffalo Gals Stampede. She is also a stunning clog dancer, former Dartmoor Step Dance Champion and practicing African boot dancer!
