A performance based group working from scripts. Although mainly acting, members will also have the opportunity to learn stagecraft and how a play is produced.

Mondays 5.45pm to 7.15pm
Ages 11 -16
For dancers with basic to advance Hip Hop skills who want to develop technique and choreographic skills.

Creative Drama
Tuesdays 4.15pm to 5.30pm
Ages 5-7
Using movement and drama to develop children’s creatively and self confidence.

Urban Groovers
Tuesdays 5.30pm to 6.30pm
Ages 6-10
Aimed at developing technical and creative skills learnt at the Urban Basics group.

Urban Basics
Wednesdays 4.15pm to 5.15pm
Ages 6-10
A new group aimed at teaching the basic foundation and techniques behind Hip Hop Dance.

Youth Theatre
Wednesdays 5.15pm – 7pm
Ages 12 – 15
Nurturing and developing the skills and creativity for devising and entertaining and unique theatre.

Young Company
Wednesdays 7pm – 9pm
Ages 15 – 19
A follow-on group for young people to focus on creating original devised theatre and performance.

Drama Club
Saturdays 10am to 12 noon
Ages 8 – 11
Focusing on improvisation and devised theatre to explore children’s ideas and develop their creativity.

All the Merlin’s Youth Groups meet weekly throughout the school term. Fees are payable in advance for the whole term. Some of our groups have waiting lists. Contact Claudia Pepler on 01373 461360 or claudia@merlintheatre.co.uk to find out if there are places available.

The Merlin Theatre is a registered provider for Give it a Go! which provides funding for out of school activities for children who are eligible for free school meals or are in local authority care. All the Merlin’s Youth Groups and holiday activities can be paid for with Give it a Go funding. Children who are eligible should contact their school to access the funding.
